But perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony. It is possible that God says every morning, \"Do it again\" to the sun; and every evening, \"Do it again\" to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them.\" - GK Chesterton When I started this collection in the dead of winter, it came slowly, wondering and waiting for the weather to warm and the ground to thaw. As the trees started budding, the pieces exploded in color and blooms. The collection is inspired by vintage botanical studies and explores color, pattern, and layering. As I slowed down to paint the intricacies of each flower or stem, I delighted in how each leaf, petal, or stripe is bound by the innate characteristics that make them what they are and yet still inextricably unique. I discovered a sense of play out of the repetition, just as each poppy grows to be a poppy and yet its own.
