No matter how we may choose to push against it, the body quietly reminds us of our mortality. We live with the knowledge of our eventual return to dust. Watercolor, like the body, is fluid, fleeting, and delicate. But within this fragile state is a deep longing—for restoration, for a better body, and better life, to come. It is the medium that comes most naturally to me—intuitive, tactile, and deeply expressive. I often think of Henri Matisse’s beautiful phrase, “drawing with scissors,” because it perfectly captures the rhythm and process behind cut paper collage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach piece is carefully cut and assembled by hand, layer upon layer, allowing shape, texture, and movement to emerge. For this collection, I was drawn to the timeless elegance of the magnolia. Translating these blooms into collage allowed me to explore dimension and texture in a way that feels both sculptural and delicate. Precise cuts, overlapping layers, and subtle variations in paper create depth and softness that echo the natural beauty of the flower itself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCreating this series was a joyful return to my artistic roots as I have often worked in different mediums the last few years.
