This new collection of paintings are all based off the hundreds of photos I took in Giverny, fully immersed in the colorful gardens of Monet’s home. One of my favorite drawing exercises is blind contour and I use it often now when beginning a new piece because it allows the lines to breathe and leaves more room for interpretation. All of my paintings begin using the squeeze bottle technique to give a fluidity to the drawing. Using lines and the negative space that they form helps to create a new perspective, while filling in the shapes with color adds another dimension to make it less literal and more abstract. One of my favorite drawing exercises is blind contour and I use it often now when beginning a new piece because it allows the lines to breathe and leaves more room for interpretation. All of my paintings begin using the squeeze bottle technique to give a fluidity to the drawing. Using lines and the negative space that they form helps to create a new perspective, while filling in the shapes with color adds another dimension to make it less literal and more abstract.
