We're back this week with a gorgeous new ‘Morning in Paris’ release from the talented, Charlie French!

 

Charlie is an abstract painter known for his compositions of bright and colorful shapes. At the age of 16, Charlie developed Down Syndrome Regression Disorder (DSRD), and lost his ability to communicate and engage with the world for over five years. Slowly he emerged to a plateau of stability choosing then to pursue his passion for art. His drive and commitment has lead to brand commissions and collaborations including Michaels Stores, The Texas Rangers, Demdaco, Mohawk Industries and Crayola to name a few.

 

The artist states, “My process for these paintings is as follows: working with high flow acrylics, foam brushes, water spray and blue shop towels for a beautiful base coat; adding gold for the shimmering sunny towers of Notre Dame; and finishing with a template and black paint for geometric lines.

I developed this series during COVID when my best little brother, Will, was home with me. We watched old Disney movies like Hunchback of Notre Dame and painted together in my studio. We would play the movie soundtrack and remember our trips to Paris and all the chocolate croissants I loved to eat. Slowly these beautiful paintings came to life. I think they are very beautiful, and remind me of the beautiful city of Paris! I hope you like them too!"
