Artist Release | 'Figure Studies' by Alison Duncan
By Audrey Gore
We're excited to be treating you to works from
new
Campbell Collective artist,
Alison Duncan
today!
These works of abstract figure studies, are depicted in various poses, predominantly with a focus on form and gesture. The artists use of mixed-media, creates different tones and textures throughout the collection. The color palettes range from muted tones such as light blues, pinks, beiges, and browns to more vibrant oranges and yellows.
Art collectors will appreciate these pieces for their raw emotion, attention to anatomical detail, and the artist's ability to capture a sense of movement and life within each pose. The intimate scale of the drawings also lends them a unique character and allows for close inspection of the artist's skill and observation. The variety of poses and expressions further enhances the appeal of the collection as a whole.
Artist Statement: “Alison is a self-taught, contemporary artist based just outside of the Atlanta area. Influenced by her woodworking father, interiors-loving mother, artist-aunt, and her grandparents whose favorite hobby was fashioning objects out of wood and painting them, Alison fell in love with creating from an early age. Painting is a source of joy in life for Alison. She loves creating vibrant, abstracted figures that celebrate femininity using color combinations, layers and marks that evoke a modern, yet classic, quality. She is consistently inspired by her surroundings: her children, traveling, special moments in time, music, nature, scripture, fashion and interiors."
