Swans first enchanted my childhood imagination through E. B. White’s The Trumpet of the Swan and a beautiful picture book retelling of the Swan Lake ballet. The striking mix of swans’ elegance and quirky personality still fascinates me today. In this collection, I’ve created a series of dreamy waterscapes where lively brushstrokes and joyful washes of color invite you into a lush, vibrant world.
Imagine yourself in a small boat on a secluded lake, gently parting a sea of painterly waterlilies. Birdsong echoes across the water as you drift in the pink morning haze. Around you, swans arch their graceful necks and dip their heads to feed among the water plants. Here and there, they murmur softly to one another, ruffling their feathers and sending gentle ripples across the blue-green mirror of the lake. My hope is that each of these paintings draws you into a moment of calm, touched with just a hint of the magic of these beautiful creatures.
