"When painting these pieces I decided to go back to Beginning Painting Class in the Art Department... This time setting up my own still lives and giving myself room to explore fresh options in background and composition. The bright colors and geometric patterns freshen up the (sometimes mundane) fruit and help me to find more complex composition in shadow and color. Creating these small vignettes of vibrancy was a fun exercise in painting something I see everyday and making it exciting."
