This time of day is what I like to call, ‘Disco Hour’. I put on a favorite playlist and get to work. In a world that feels fractured and overwhelming, this series is my attempt to create joy within chaos—not by resolving the tension, but by sitting inside it and looking for light.

I place emphasis on conceptuality and color in my work. Each painting begins with an act of observation: a small paint palette nested at the center, surrounded by triangular fragments. The inner image is an anchor, something known and safe. The shapes radiating outward reflect the noise and unpredictability of the world pressing in. But by shifting your perspective, they’re also reminiscent of the light and colors reflected from thousands of tiny, silver-mirrored facets, fracturing and scattering brilliance across everything within reach.

Watercolor, oil pastel and acrylic each bring their own temperament to the conversation. Watercolor yields and bleeds; acrylic asserts; oil pastel lingers somewhere between drawing and painting. I let these materials argue with one another, because that friction is where the most honest color relationships emerge. Color, for me, is never decorative. It is emotional architecture, the same as music. Each color placement is deliberate, guided entirely by intuition rather than plan. These works are, at their core, color studies: each palette seeking a balance between the soft, the muted and the bold, with glimmers of white light in between."

Choose ‘Pick Up’ option at checkout if you are local and wish to pick up at Cottage Grove to avoid shipping costs.

["abstract","Floral","Floral Abstract","Flower Art","Greenville","Greenville Art Gallery","Greenville SC art gallery","Online Art Gallery","Online Art Gallery Southern","the campbell collective
"option1":"Default Title","option2":null,"option3":null
["Default Title
["//campbellcollective.co/cdn/shop/files/06__Sleepyhead_-DiscoHourSeries_AudreyGore_8x10x1-5_8_Mixed-MediaonPanel__280.jpg?v=1774635084","//campbellcollective.co/cdn/shop/files/06__Sleepyhead_-DiscoHourSeries_AudreyGore_8x10x1-5_8_Mixed-MediaonPanel_SideView__280.jpg?v=1774635098
//campbellcollective.co/cdn/shop/files/06__Sleepyhead_-DiscoHourSeries_AudreyGore_8x10x1-5_8_Mixed-MediaonPanel__280.jpg?v=1774635084
Title
//campbellcollective.co/cdn/shop/files/06__Sleepyhead_-DiscoHourSeries_AudreyGore_8x10x1-5_8_Mixed-MediaonPanel__280.jpg?v=1774635084
//campbellcollective.co/cdn/shop/files/06__Sleepyhead_-DiscoHourSeries_AudreyGore_8x10x1-5_8_Mixed-MediaonPanel__280.jpg?v=1774635084
//campbellcollective.co/cdn/shop/files/06__Sleepyhead_-DiscoHourSeries_AudreyGore_8x10x1-5_8_Mixed-MediaonPanel_SideView__280.jpg?v=1774635098
//campbellcollective.co/cdn/shop/files/06__Sleepyhead_-DiscoHourSeries_AudreyGore_8x10x1-5_8_Mixed-MediaonPanel_SideView__280.jpg?v=1774635098

Audrey Gore

Disco Hour Series

Mixed Media on Birch Panel

8" x 10" x 1-5/8"

"At golden hour the sunlight hits the disco ball in my studio, turning the room into a sparkling, immersive world of light.
