"This body of work was created from a place of pure curiosity and play in my studio during the cold days of winter. With spring in mind, I began to experiment with soft pastels and bright hues—all balanced with muted tones. The backgrounds are detailed and richly textured with layers of oil pastels, while the top mounted garden paths are more simplistic. The path’s shapes are reminiscent of my ‘Vereen Gardens’ series—while this connection wasn’t intentional I found it interesting.

Each day before I began to work, I would read a poem from a book that belonged to my grandmother. This served as an extra dose of inspiration to my daily practice. I hope these paintings evoke feelings of a perfect spring day—light, airy, full of color and teeming with new life."
